Callous Formation

Repetitive injury to the skin leads to the development of thickening, initially with mild warm/redness, and later, to corn/callous build-up. These often develop in response to abnormal forces acting through the foot. Restoring skin texture and modifying or alleviating these forces can greatly aid in reducing these build-ups. There are an estimated 250,000 sweat glands in the feet. Abnormal pressure exerted to an individual gland can lead to injury of this structure. It often responds by producing keratin in the gland which is similar in structure to your toenail. Stepping or applying shoe pressure will then exert an inward force that can lead to this becoming quite painful. Despite their potential for pain, these areas can be easily treated by your foot specialist. Call us at Dr. Moore 425-481-7055 for an evaluation for treatment.

The fitting of shoes is an important, but unfortunately neglected aspect of selling these days. There is a change in sizing of shoes in emerging markets, and this makes proper fitting of shoes when purchasing essential. Too often we hear the question "what is your size?" Feet should be measured and then shoes checked to be sure fit is appropriate to the client's feet, A shoe that does not fit will not function the same as a shoe that does fit appropriately. I highly recommend X-rays when you are having any foot pain This way, I can begin to treat your issues right away. Especially if the cause of your foot pain is Plantar Fasciitis. X-rays will determine if your foot pain has any spur involvement. Under usual conditions, your plantar fascia acts like a shock-absorbing bowstring, supporting the arch in your foot. In case tension and strain on that bowstring become too excessive, small tears can arise in the fascia. Recurring stretching and tearing can cause the fascia to become irritated or inflamed, though in many cases of Plantar Fasciitis, the cause isn't clear. Doctor Moore does in Office X-rays at your appointment. Feel free to call our friendly office to schedule an immediate appointment at 425-481-7055

Even though plantar fasciitis can arise without a noticeable cause, issues that can increase your risk of developing plantar fasciitis include: • Age ~ Plantar fasciitis is most likely to happen between the ages of 40 and 60. • Certain types of exercise ~ undertaking activities that put a lot of stress on your heel and attached tissue (such as long-distance running, ballistic jumping activities, ballet dancing and aerobic dance) can contribute to an earlier start of plantar fasciitis. • Foot mechanics ~ Being flat-footed, having a high arch or even having an unusual pattern of walking can disturb the way weight is distributed while you're standing and put added stress on the plantar fascia. • Obesity ~ Extra pounds put extra stress on your plantar fascia. • Occupations that keep you on your feet ~ Factory, Restaurant, Retail workers, teachers and others who spend the majority of their work hours walking or standing on tough surfaces can harm & hurt their plantar fascia. We will Blog a little more about Plantar Fasciitis soon; in case you have any questions feel free to set an appointment at our Office in Woodinville at 425-481-7005 or email us at footdoctormoore@gmail.com
